Calumet Grove Social Club Minutes

January 4, 2012

The meeting was called to order by President Jean Bauman and the Pledge of Allegiance recited.

Deb Sparks made the motion to elect the new Board seconded by Marge Moore.

President-Jean Bauman    VP-Rosalind Gantz    Treasurer – Joan Dattolico  Sect. – Kathy Browe  Entertainment Activity Director Beth Braun

The motion was accepted and the Board elected.

There are currently 12 members at large from most areas of Calumet Grove. The final position is being held open for a representative from Greenwood.  12 attended the meeting including the Board.

Treasurer’s Report was given – there is currently $1358 balance. Most of this was raised by the Holiday Dance in December.  Savannah Center and the same band are booked for 2012.  A letter will be provided to Citizens’ Bank to change the authorized signatures on the current account to the President, Vice President and Treasurer.

Activities Director, Beth Braun reported that flyers are up and tickets are ready for the Bingo on January 24th at 6:00 at Mulberry.  Each ticket will receive 3 Bingo cards.  Refreshments will be provided by the club and a 50/50 drawing will be held.  Treasurer Joan said that 130 tickets will be available and went over distribution procedures.  Jean and Rosalind will also be at the Calumet Post Office on Wed. 1/11 from 2:00 on to sell tickets to neighbors.

Bev Harriet was not at the meeting but Jean Bauman said that Night Golf is being planned again and is set for May 16th.

Marge Moore suggested we attempt to find new residents to be greeted by a Welcoming Committee.    Kathy Browe will put this in Mix along with the Club activities in the weekly Thursday event circular.

We appreciate the work of the Solomansons for coordinating the gate wreaths for the holidays and also agreeing to store these till next year.

Rosalind will take over printing duties for the club and Ernie Bauman will take over as web-master and sending the e-mail blasts.

As a club we are required to hold 4 events during the year and 3 at Mulberry and the Holiday Dance at Savannah on predetermined dates. It was suggested to make the March 27th event a Golf Cart Amazing Race.  Beth Braun is chairperson with Janice Smith and Kathy Browe to assist.  A catered dinner will follow.  Details and prices will be announced as soon as final decisions are made.

It was discussed and decided that we did not need to adopt an official charity since we are only a social club.  If we decide to do food drives or similar activities at our events it will be publicized.

Discussion followed on other events throughout the year and past events which were successful.  The events for October 23rd and other dates will be planned at the next meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:30.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Browe
