BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
January 21, 2009
The January 21, 2009, meeting of the Calumet Grove Social Club was called to order at 10:10 AM by President Marcy Solomonson.
Marcy introduced the following Slate of Officers for 2009:
President Elect Bev Harriett
Vice President Elect Sharon Porter
Treasurer Elect Diane Farrell
Secretary Elect Millie Hammond
The minutes of the December 10, 2008 meeting were read by Ellen Millar and approved.
Treasurer Bob Dolan reported a balance in our treasury of $1,790.00. Bob has paid the following items for 2009: Billy's Storage is paid until April 1, 2009, (cost is $50 per month), deposit for night golf on November 3, 2009, and deposit for Savannah Center for the December 11, 2009 Christmas Party.
Christmas Dinner Dance:
2008 Christmas Dinner Dance – 180 tickets were sold.
2009 Christmas Dinner Dance – Ellen will contact Diane at LaHacienda Catering to be sure we are scheduled. $150 Security Deposit has been paid to Savannah Center for the rooms. The cost to rent the Butler and Charleston rooms will be $817.68
Ice-2008:
Bus trip to Ice at the Gaylord Palms Hotel in Disney World was a great success.
Jersey Boys:
Sold out and at this point there is no waiting list.
Election of Officers :
January 27, 2009 will be a Valentine theme with Ruth and Tom Ferguson organizing Battle of the Sexes. In appreciation we will present them with a gift card for $50 to Nancy Lopez Restaurant. The dinner will consist of meat Lasagna (5 trays--each tray feeds 20 people and is $75), Antipasti (5 trays--each tray feeds 20 people and is $56), and garlic knots (4 trays--each tray has 50 knots and is $15) and will be catered by Pauly's. We have 81 tickets sold. We will need to purchase plates, napkins, tablecloths, balloons, coffee cups, coffee, soda, dessert and snacks. Bev would like a table set up so they can sell tickets to the 2009 upcoming events.
Web Sight and Blast:
Bob reported that the Calumet Web site home page will list current activities, couples golf, a form to sign up for the Email Blast and a list of the Calumet Grove Social Club officers. Bob said he would put any new activities or business on the blast as long as someone will take the responsibility for accuracy. Bob will be reimbursed the $70 for the cost of the web site for the upcoming year.
Charitable Contributions:
A motion by Chuck McPherson and seconded by Bob Dolan that we give $400 each to Marion County Hospice and St Theresa Food Pantry. The motion was unanimously approved. Ann will contact Theresa Campbell, columnist for the Daily Sun to try to get some publicity for the plight of St Theresa.
Christmas Decorations:
Jim will send Bob Bollinger photographs and rules for hanging the Christmas Decorations at the gates. Bob will post this informations on the Blast for use by future installers.
Community Watch:
Nina will call Community Watch with regard to the missing letters on our Calumet sign at the Chatham Gate.

The new board will hold their first meeting on February 4, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the home of Bev Harriett.
Bob Dolan, Sharon Porter and Diane Farrell will go to Citizens Bank to sign any necessary papers to change the names on the Checking account.
Supplies:
A motion by Marcy and seconded by Bev that we allow other Calumet Grove Clubs to borrow our supplies (Hurricane Globes, decorations, etc) was unanimously approved.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:25 AM.
